Seattle Gymnastics Academy offers a wide
variety of programs for children of all ages and abilities. League
gymnastics allows a recreational gymnast the opportunity to experience
competitive gymnastics and be a part of a team. SGA League gymnasts
compete at various competitions in the Seattle area and represent
their team at
SGA. Each class constitutes
a team with a name and a uniform that sets them apart from the
other teams. This program is open to recreational gymnasts ages
four and up who successfully complete the tryout. Tryouts need
to be scheduled ahead of time with the front desk.
League class size is limited to approximately 9-10 students per coach and will be formed based on age and skill ability. The curriculum includes skill development and routines on Floor, Uneven Bars, Vault and Beam. The teams will be named within Divisions of competition - "A", "AA", and "AAA." And here's the neat thing: the teams compete as a group, not as individuals. Everybody's score is added up and the team wins or places as group, removing most of the jitters.
Time: 1 1/2 hours- 3 hours a week
Uniform: Team Leotard - $35- $45
Competitions:The
competitive season is 12- 14 weeks in length. There are usually
4- 5 competitions and a championship competition to
conclude the season. The competitions are held Saturday afternoons
and run about two and a half hours. The athletes are given ribbons,
medals and a wonderful learning experience. The gymnasts meet
new friends, are part of a team and more importantly have fun
while learning the skills of gymnastics.
There will be extra expense compared to the class program. Competition fees are collected for entry fees, judges fees and other competitive expenses. Competition fees are calculated at the beginning of each season and you will be notified to pay at the SGA front desk when you enroll in the class. Generally, the fee is $85- 100 for the season. The fee must be paid regardless of whether you attend all of the meets.
