Star League
What is Star League Gymnastics?
Seattle Gymnastics Academy offers a wide variety of programs for children of all ages and abilities. Star League gymnastics allows a recreational gymnast the opportunity to experience competitive gymnastics and be a part of a team of friends. SGA Star League gymnasts compete at informal competitions in-house and invite other gyms from the area to participate as well. Each class constitutes a team that picks their team name; all teams wear the SGA Star League leotard that sets them apart from the other classes. This program is open to recreational gymnasts ages six and up. You may speak with your child's coach for a recommended Star League level or sign-up for a assessment with the front desk for placement.
A Star League class size is limited to 8 students per coach and teams are formed based on skill ability. The curriculum includes conditioning, skill development and routines on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Success is measured on a team level only, no individual awards and every athlete receives a ribbon.
Star League A: An hour and half gymnastics class for gymnasts generally from Level 1 or 2.
Star League AA: An hour and half gymnastics class for gymnasts generally from Level 3 or 4.
Star League AAA: A hour and half, twice a week class for gymnasts generally from Level 4 or 5.
Competitions: Star League classes run year round. However, competitions run in the Fall and Spring sessions with around 4-5 competitions each season. The competitions are held Saturday afternoons and run about two and a half hours. The gymnasts meet new friends, are part of a team and more importantly have fun while learning the skills of gymnastics.
Pricing: On top of regular class prices, in the Fall and Spring sessions there are extra expenses for joining Star League. Competition fees are collected for entry fees, judges and coaches fees, an end of season sleepover and other competitive expenses. Competition fees are calculated at the beginning of each season and you will be notified to pay at the SGA front desk when you enroll in the class. Generally, the fee is $135 for the season. The fee must be paid regardless of whether you attend all of the meets. In addition, a team leotard is required for a cost between $35-$45 to be purchased before your first meet.
Coaching Staff: The Star League staff is a group of energetic, qualified and fun instructors. They are committed to providing a fun safe and exciting learning experience. Our staff is eager to have a great SGA League team.
