Ballards New Gym!
Evicted by our landlord at Stimpson Marina (too many customers!!), we're moving Ballard to 1415 NW 52nd Street, about one mile or three minutes from the current site. The good news is that the new gym will be bigger than the current gym (16,425 square feet vs. 9,300 square feet), there will be room for expansion, plenty of parking and easy access from 15th Avenue NW. (Plus a good Chinese restaurant a half block to the west...) The only downside is that you enter from the South side of the building, off NW 51st, not the north side of the building which is the formal address.
Here's the location:

The new gym will have a gigantic pit, changing rooms, bigger bathrooms, three runways, a preschool area, three in-ground trampolines, a full set of women's and men's artistic gymnastics gear, all the TNT gear, two floor exercise areas, two sets of uneven bars, offices for the coaches, expansion potential and a barrel-vault ceiling. We've engaged Ecco Design to run interference with the city and design the facility -- Troy Hussing's girl attends the Ballard gym. Move-in date -- not guaranteed given permitting issues -- is during the July 4th break. Our contractor, D&E Construction swears they will have it ready by then despite the size of the pits and the elaborate seismic retrofit we're putting in. All in all, this is quite a project -- about $350,000 or so, plus or minus. Wish us luck and thanks for coming to SGA and giving us the wherewithal to build a gym like this!
