John Sweeney
John is the President and owner of Seattle Gymnastics Academy. Although he didn't have any gymnastics experience when he purchased the company in 1985, he did have a vested interest in the sport. His two daughters, Meghan and Victoria, were involved in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics at the gym.
In 1988, SGA opened the first rhythmic gymnastics program in Seattle. While John's daughter Meghan continued competing in artistic gymnastics, Victoria thrived in the more dance-based rhythmic gymnastics. John is still involved in the competitive aspects of rhythmic gymnastics. John is a level 8 judge and is the Regional Judging Representative for Region II of SGA.
The best part about working at SGA for John is the kids. He understands that teaching our students how to "try again" is beneficial in all aspects of their lives. We have set up our gymnastics program so that students can progress in small, organized steps; which leads to their success.
